The 28th Annual Grand View Gator Run 5k took place on May 4, 2025. The event welcomes people of all ages to walk or run in the race. Activities at the event included a food truck and the Spring Fair after the run. Many Grand View graduates who now go to Manhattan Beach Middle School ran in the race, and shared their experience with their peers.
“It was a lot of fun, and my favorite part was running alongside my friends,” former Grand View student Emma Nabili said. “Afterwards, I went to the fair where I relaxed and grabbed some food.”
Emma ran in 2023 as a fifth grader at Grand View and encouraged other Grand View alumni at MBMS to join.
The course starts and ends at Grand View and has multiple water stations along the way. Afterwards, an awards ceremony is held where the top three runners in their age groups are given small plaques. Later, people can enjoy the fair and different activities.
“Every year, I run the Gator Run with my family and always have a great time,” Charlotte Amezquita said. “It’s also a great way to get some exercise while supporting my elementary school.”
Charlotte is the second of four siblings, all of whom went to Grand View. Every year, the Amezquita family runs in the fundraiser to support their favorite elementary school. After the run, Charlotte goes to the fair held at the school, with many different games and prizes.
All funds raised benefit the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation and Grand View Elementary School. The donations directly support classroom supplies, field trips, and other perks to help improve students’ education.
In 2022, the run made approximately $20,000 dollars with the help of 400 participants and multiple sponsors. As this run continues to be one of the best annual fundraisers in the school district, it emphasizes how we can come together to build community and help schools in our neighborhood continue to grow.
