The election for President and Vice President at MBMS provides an opportunity for students to exercise their right to vote and have a say in the leadership of their school. The candidates have been campaigning and presenting their platforms to the students and sharing their visions for the school’s future.
Seventh grader Kara Kim said, “I think it is inspiring to see the students engaged about the election. I also think it prepares the students for High School because they practice leadership skills.” The upcoming election is particularly significant, as it will determine who will lead ASB for next year. The candidates have been watching closely to what everyone likes and presented election videos where they talked about their promises to make our school better.
The election generated a lot of excitement and buzz among the student body, with candidates actively campaigning and promoting their ideas. The posters, flyers, and social campaigns were creatively designed to attract the attention of the students and encourage them to vote. The election process was carefully planned and executed to ensure fairness and transparency. Candidates were given equal opportunities to present their platforms, and all students had the chance to cast their vote in this year’s election.
On Friday, May 3, the candidates for ASB were notified of the results. Our 2024-2025 school President and Vice President are Dylan Black and Desiree Anselem-Okorie, respectively. After weeks of campaigning, the students worked hard for this moment and, for Dylan Black and Desiree Anselem-Okorie, this was a huge breath of fresh air.
“I feel like we’re actually really ready because if we started today, I think we would do pretty good,” Desiree said. Desiree and Dylan shared that they have worked hard and have many interactive ideas for the next school year. For instance, they want to make our school a bully free zone with the help of clubs, teachers and students. They also will be giving more free candy and working to provide better sports equipment next year.
Congratulations to Dylan Black and Desiree Anselem-Okorie for winning President and Vice Presidents. Also, a big congratulations to the other candidates—Annabel Lin, Henry Grenzy, Rose Schroeder, Justin Jones—for their hard work. This election has been full of fun and suspense and it looks like our school is in good hands with such awesome student leaders!
