Our Vice Principal, Katie Cavallaro has been recently announced to take on the role of Principal at Robinson Elementary. Ms. Cavallaro started in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District (MBUSD) as a strings teacher for all five of the elementary schools and then transitioned to being a vice principal at Manhattan Beach Middle School (MBMS) for three years. Ms. Cavallaro has been in the MBUSD for fifteen years. She will start her new position in the 2024-2025 school year.
“When I found out I was selected to be the new Robinson Principal, I felt different emotions. I felt excited, thrilled, and bittersweet,” Ms. Cavallaro said.
Ms. Cavallaro will be replacing former Robinson principal Jackie O’Sullivan who has been selected as the MBUSD director of early learning. Both Cavallaro and O’Sullivan will work closely together during this change.
“I think it is nice that she is going to go to Robinson because they deserve a good principal like Ms. Cavallaro,” seventh grader Sydney Weitz said.
Even though this will be a change for our school, Ms. Cavallaro is qualified for the role at Robinson.
“I hope that Robinson serves her well and that she will enjoy her time there,” Eve-Ana Chabert Graeff said.
“I think that I am the most excited to teach at Robinson because I can reunite with old staff and other families that I had known when I was a strings teacher,” Ms. Cavallaro said. “I am really excited for the opportunity to learn a lot of new things because I love to learn. However, I also feel nervous about having to learn so many new things quickly.”
Ms. Cavallaro feels bittersweet about leaving MBMS because it is such a special school that she loved being a part of. She is going to miss the students the most as she leaves, but is excited to return back to Robinson.
