As the school year comes to an end, ASB president Emma Hurlburt and vice president Nikole Ortiz-Luis have decided to make a change. The current lunchtime sports equipment is old and beginning to fall apart; this has led Emma and Nikole to raise money with a sugar cookie fundraiser. Over the course of five days ASB was able to raise $440 for the new equipment. ASB plans on using the money to first repair the volleyballs that have been in particular disrepair.
“More than seventy-five percent of them are falling apart,” Hurlburt said.
Students like eighth grader Sawyer Schwarz are excited to use the new volleyballs at lunch. “I’m really happy we’re getting new volleyballs, the ones we have right now are really musty.” Sawyer said.
Other equipment, like the footballs, will also be replaced.
“During our campaigns we promised to repair sports equipment,” Hurlburt said. “We are glad that we could fulfill our promise to the school.”
